3.0 maintenance

3.1

Equipment Care and Inspection

The equipment should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected after use each day to maintain optimal performance.
The following visual checks and inspections should be performed before operating the unit:
Look for mechanical damage that could affect safe operation.
Ensure there are no missing parts or accessories.
Inspect components for tightness, cracks, wear or frayed electrical cords.
Should mechanical or other damage be evident that would affect the safe use or operation of the system, it should not be
used until repair or replacements correcting the defects are made.
3.2

Solid Trap

Warning – Infections Materials.
Check the solid trap filter and if partially obstructed or full replace with new filter. To replace filter, lift the composite
work top and slide to the side. Locate the lid to the solid trap, unscrew and lift off. Lift out filter and dispose of according to
hazardous waste protocol. Replace with a new filter.
3.3

Cleaning, Disinfection and Sterilization

3.3.1 General Cleaning
Cart surfaces can be cleaned with a soft cloth or sponge and mild cleaners and disinfectants containing alcohol. See below
for cleaning and maintenance of worktop. DO NOT spray disinfectants or other liquids into openings of carts as this may
cause damage to internal electrical parts. Apply disinfectant to cloth or sponge and then wipe down.
Handpiece tubings should be wiped down between patients with alcohol based disinfectants or other approved disinfectants
approved for dental use. Do not use concentrated bleach as this can damage the polymers in the tubing.

3.3.3 Disinfecting the Water System and Handpiece Tubing
It is recommended to use the DentaPure Cartridge in the clean water system bottles to disinfect the water system. The DP365
is designed for use for one year without requiring daily maintenance. This cartridge is manufactured by MLRB International
and is available for purchase directly from ASI. To order online, visit asimedical.net/store and request part number 95-0281.
To use, the cartridge can be attached to the pick up tube that hangs down in the water bottle by screwing it into the supplied
fitting. To replace, unscrew the old cartridge and screw in the new one. Place the Date Changed label on the outside of the
clean water system as a reminder of when the next change is required.
