CARE FOR YOUR GUITAR
Because your new guitar is made of wood, it is important to keep it in appropriate temperature and humidity
environments. Wood can swell or shrink if used or stored in an environment of extremely high or low temperature, or
extremely high or low humidity. Improper storage can cause cracking or other damage, possibly causing the neck to
warp or the body to swell or deform, and may even make the instrument unplayable.
The guitar's finish is prone to changes in color if subjected to direct sunlight. In most cases, guitar cases and bags are an
effective way to protect your instrument against impact. Additionally, cases and bags are often effective protection
against short periods of abnormal temperature or humidity.
Cleaning
Appropriate cleaning is an important way to ensure that your guitar will remain in good condition for many years.
Humidity, perspiration, and finger oils (fingerprints) that remain on the strings or metal parts may cause rust or
corrosion. Use a guitar wiping cloth or a soft cotton cloth to wipe down your instrument immediately after playing.
Guitar specific polish may be used to help protect your guitar.
Guitar Adjustments
Neck and saddle adjustments require special techniques and tools and should be left to musical instrument repair
professionals. On acoustic-electric guitars, special care must be taken for models that have a pickup underneath the
saddle. On such models, the sound may be drastically affected if the saddle is too high or too low. Refrain from
adjustments yourself.
