TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

The MSS6000 Microphone Summation
System is a professional microphone and
preamp summation system designed pri-
marily for amplifying stringed instruments
such as violin, cello and bass in an orchestral
setup.
The complete system consists of five
Stereo Satellite Boxes (SSB6000), one
Master Sum Box (MSB6000), ten Miniature
Microphones (4061), five MSS6000 cables
(DAO0003), ten Microphone Holders for
Strings (MHS6001) and ten Universal
Surface Mounts (DMM0007) all supplied in
a secure and durable Samonsite® briefcase.
SSB6000 Stereo Satellite Box
The Stereo Satellite Boxes have 2 input
channels with MicroDot connectors. Each
box has individual level and pan adjustments
for each microphone connected to the box.

On each side of the Satellite boxes are input
and output connectors for the 4-pin XLR
cables, to connect the boxes with each other
and to the final Master Sum Box.
MSB6000 Master Sum Box
The Master Sum Box incorporates two
high-performance, transformer-coupled mic
preamplifiers for the microphone outputs.
The whole system is powered by two chan-
nels of 48V phantom power from your mix-
ing console.
No separate power supply unit is needed.
However, both Master Sum Box out-
puts must be connected simultaneous-
ly to a console/stage box with 48V
Phantom, to power the system.
4061 Miniature Microphones
The MSS6000 Microphone Summation
System is designed specifically for use with
4061 Miniature Microphones, which are ter-
minated with MicroDot connectors as stan-
dard.
Connect the male MicroDot connector on
the microphone to the female MicroDot
input connector on the individual Stereo
Satellite Box (SSB6000). Two connector
tightening tools are supplied with the
MSS6000 and should be employed when-
ever the MicroDot connector needs to be
tightened safely to the Stereo Satellite
Boxes. Never try to loosen the connector
by the cable or its strain relief. Despite the
use of Kevlar®, the cable might be damaged
if twisted with excessive force. Do not use
glue to tighten the MicroDot.

The MSS6000 is primarily designed for use
with 4061 but may also be used with other
DPA miniature microphone models. For
example, for miking large choir events, the
Miniature Microphone Headband models
4065 and 4066 could be used with the
MSS6000.
For complete specifications of the
microphones, as well as detailed care
and usage instructions, please see the
user's manuals included with each
microphone.
The microphones and the MSS6000
system will only operate within their
specifications if powered correctly.
