Bringing the Card into Service
At power-on, the card is switched out of memory; interrupt channels and termination are
disabled. As a minimum, at start-up, the following conditions must be established via the device
drivers :
•
a clock mode for the card must be established
•
the digital switch array must be initialised (switch driver loaded)
•
H.100 clock termination must be activated when the card is at either end of the H.100 bus
and there are five or more cards on the H.100 bus

External Ports
There are three user ports; two accessed through the end bracket, and one internal H.100 ECTF
CTBus :
•
2x duplex fibre ports which together comprise the MC3 interface
•
1x RJ45 4-way port for power to optical bypass relay (5V, 340mA continuous)
•
H.100 ECTF CTBus interface for interconnection with Computer Telephony resource cards
Please note that an optical bypass relay is optional third party equipment that is not supplied by
Aculab.
Connections are made to the duplex fibre ports using 62.5/125 µm multimode duplex fibre
cables fitted with SC-type connectors. The topologies of two ring systems are shown in the
following diagrams.
Optical Bypass Relays are not supplied by Aculab. The current drawn from the MC3 card for an
Optical Bypass Relay must not exceed 340mA for guaranteed continuous operation.
