1. Applicable standards and regulations

• The ak 103 series have been designed in compliance with and to meet or exceed the
requirements of
 EN 60601-1 and UL 2601
 Class I products in accordance with the German Medical Products Law
 Radio interference certification EN 55011/Class B
 Electromagnetic compatibility EN 60601-1-2
 Directive 93/42/EWG annex IX
• Observe the applicable national regulations for the prevention of accidents.

2. Installations instructions and use

o Before using the instrument table, please carefully read and observe the safety
instructions and recommendations listed in this manual
o Correct use and operation of the table is absolutely necessary for its safe function.
o Check power specifications on label and ensure compliance with local power supply.
o Connect table only to power sockets equipped with ground circuit. Any break of
ground circuit (inside or outside of electrical equipment) may cause hazards to user
or equipment. Never break ground circuit on purpose.
o Do not pull or tug on power cord.
o Do not operate the ak 103 series in environments exposed to hazardous materials.
Do not operate in the presence of flammable anaesthetics and volatile solvents such
as alcohol, benzine or similar
o Do not set up the ak 103 series in humid or damp rooms. Avoid areas of sprinkling,
dripping or splashing water.
o The ak 103 series should be operated by trained and authorized personnel only. Use
other than designed use falls within the sole responsibility of operator.
o Assembly, service or modifications by authorized and trained staff only.
o The ak 103 series may be opened only by trained and authorized technicians.
Disconnect power cord before opening equipment or changing fuses.
o When cleaning, make sure that no cleaning agent or water enters into the electric
control box of the ak 103 series
