• U nified Server Configurator (UEFI 2.1) support
• P ower management support including DBS, Power Inventory and multiple Power Profiles
The PowerEdge M710 BIOS does not support the following:
• E mbedded Diagnostics (embedded in MASER)
• B IOS language localization
• B IOS recovery after bad flash (but can be recovered from iDRAC6 Express)

What is I
C? A simple bi-directional 2-wire bus for efficient inter-integrated circuit control. All I
2
compatible devices incorporate an on-chip interface which allows them to communicate directly with
each other via the I
designing digital control circuits. These I
intelligent control devices (e.g., microcontrollers), general-purpose circuits (e.g., LCD drivers, remote I/O
ports, memories), and application-oriented circuits.

a. Overview/Description
Embedded Gigabit Ethernet Controllers with TCP Offload Engine (TOE) support. Four embedded
Broadcom 5709C dual-port LAN controllers are on the M710 planar as independent Gigabit Ethernet
interface devices. The following information details the features of the LAN devices.
• x 4 PCI Express Gen2-capable interface
• T he M710 operates this controller at Gen1 speed
• I ntegrated MAC and PHY 3072x18 Byte context memory
• 6 4KB receive buffer
• T OE (TCP Offload Engine)
• i SCSI controller (enabled through an optional hardware key)
• R DMA controller (RNIC) (enabled post-RTS through an optional hardware key)
• N C-SI (Network Controller-Sideband Interface) connection for manageability
• W ake-On-LAN (WOL)
• P XE 2.0 remote boot
• i SCSI boot
• I Pv4 and IPv6 support
• B are metal deployment support
• I SCSI offload - Used for offloading ISCI traffic as an ISCSI accelerator/HBA

sectiOn 10. Mezzanine caRD slOts

a. Overview / Description
The PowerEdge M710 contains 4 PCIe x8 Gen 2 mezzanine card slots. Each card is a dual port. Every
PowerEdge M710 blade can support up to 8 I/O ports (2 from each of the 4 mezzanine cards) plus the
two integrated NIC/LOM ports. Mezzanine card options include:
• E mulex and QLogic dual-port 4Gb or 8Gb FC HBA
• B roadcom 5709 dual-port Gb Ethernet w/ TOE and iSCSI offload
• S upports IPv6 offloads, improved virtualization performance, enables M710 to support 2
Ethernet mezzanine cards, and lowers power consumption
• M ellanox ConnectX dual-port Double Data Rate (DDR – 20Gbps) Infiniband HCA or Quad Data
Rate (QDR – 40Gbps) HCA
• B roadcom dual-port 10Gb Ethernet w/ TOE and iSCSI offload
