Reviewing the S.A.M.E. County Codes You Have Programmed:
To review the S.A.M.E. county codes you have programmed into your weather
radio, press MENU to open the programming menu, and follow the same
sequence you used to program them.
Adding New S.A.M.E. Event Codes:
Periodically the National Weather Service may find it necessary to add new alert
codes to the system. The EAR-10 will allow the user to program up to five new
S.A.M.E. event codes into the radio. The new S.A.M.E. message code is divided
into three categories.
1. Event code (PIL code)
2. Display the text message on the LCD
3. Severity status of the event
The user must enter all three categories for the new S.A.M.E. message to
function correctly. To add a new S.A.M.E. message code, please follow the
following steps:
Press the MENU button
Press UP or DOWN button to show ADD ALERTS on the display.
Press SELECT button to show NEW 1 - - - on display. The number 1
should be blinking on the display
Press UP or DOWN button to choose a different new alert number or
press SELECT button to make your choice
To activate the first of the three categories below NEW ALERT, press UP
or DOWN button and LEFT or RIGHT button to select the alphabet
characters to spell the three character event code of the new alert
Next press the SELECT button to show the upper line of the display which
will display the message received. Eleven character spaces are available
for the description. Press UP or DOWN button or LEFT or RIGHT button
to choose the letters and spaces for the description
Next press the SELECT button to choose the level of the event
All event codes ending in an A should be entered as a WATCH
All event codes ending in W should be entered as a WARNING
All event codes ending in S or E should be entered as an ADVISORY
