WaterPro™ AVFD Series Alarm Panel - Installation Instructions
Installation of the WaterPro™ WaterSpotter Flood Sensor
1. Connect the WaterPro™ WaterSpotter Flood Sensor to Terminals C and 1. Make sure to connect the red wire to
Terminal C and the black wire to Terminal 1. Place the flood sensor in a desired location where water needs to be
detected (Fig. 14).
2. The WaterPro™ WaterSpotter Alarm Panel is also equipped with Normally Open Alarm Dry Contacts rated at 24
VDC/AC, 100mA Maximum. Terminals 2 and 3 are the Normally Open Dry Contacts (Fig. 14).
3. Plug the alarm power supply into a 120 VAC, 50/60 Hz standard wall outlet. The "Power" LED (green) should
illuminate (Fig. 15).

Testing the AVFD Series Alarm Panel System
1. After all wiring is complete, the system is ready for testing. Make sure power is applied to both the VFD Panel
and the WaterPro™ Alarm Panel.
2. In normal condition, the "Flood" and "VFD Lockout" LED indicators (red) will not be illuminated.
3. Place the WaterPro™ WaterSpotter Flood Sensor in a pan of water or on a wet rag. The alarm buzzer will acti-
vate and the "Flood" and "VFD Lockout" LED indicators (red) will illuminate. Some VFD panels have indication of
Pressure Transducer fault - check to see if this indicator is activated. Run water in a faucet until you would expect
the pump to turn "On". If the water pressure drops and the pump does not turn on - then the wiring is good, which
means a flood is detected, the pump will not run to create more flooding.
4. Remove the sensor from water and dry the probes by wiping off with a dry rag, the alarm should automatically
reset (buzzer and "Flood" LED will be off). However, the VFD Lockout LED indicator (red) remains illuminated.
5. Press the "Silence/Reset" pushbutton. The "VFD Lockout" LED indicator (red) will turn off and the Pressure
Transducer will be reconnected to the VFD Panel. Run water in the faucet again and make sure the pump starts
to provide water and proper water pressure is present. Some VFDs may require a manual reset after a pressure
sensor fault so check the owners manual from the VFD panel for information on re-setting the VFD.
6. Test the system monthly to ensure system integrity. Wipe off the sensor probes with alcohol rag to clean the
stainless steel probes removing all deposits and buildup of debris.
Maintenance
The WaterPro™ WaterSpotter flood sensor uses an isolated patented circuit that detects water with no shock
hazard at the probes.
1. Keep the stainless steel probes (bottom of unit) clean and free of rust, mud, soap or any type of non conductive
material.
2. When inspecting monthly, clean probes keeping them free of debris, calcium or iron deposits.
