Thank you for purchasing this high-quality ADE product. You have acquired a set of scales that
meet the highest technical standards and are of proven quality.
Please read these operating instructions carefully before using the product for the first time and
keep them in a safe place where you can find them whenever you need the information contained in
the instructions.
1. Putting into Service
Inserting the batteries:
Open the lid of the battery compartment on the bottom of the scales and insert the supplied
batteries (2 x 1.5 V AAA). Please observe the correct polarity of the batteries (+/-).
Safety information:
Ensure that no objects fall onto the scales; otherwise, the scales may be
damaged.
Use only a damp cloth to clean the scales. Never use solvents or
abrasive cleaning agents. Do not submerge. You must clean all the
plastic parts of the scales immediately after they come into contact with
grease, spices, vinegar or any other strongly spiced or coloured foods.
Avoid any contact with citric acid.
2. Operation
Switching on the scales:
Press down on the scales' surface for about 2 seconds with a pressure of 1000 g to switch the
scales on. The display initially shows "18:8:88", and once stabilised the value "0 g", "0.000 kg or
"0: 0.0 lb: oz" will be displayed, depending on setting. The scales are now ready to weigh.
Note: If a weight is shown on the display after switching on, simply touch the field TARE/OFF to set
the scales to "0".
Switching between units of weight:
Touching the UNIT/SET field to the right of the display will change the country-specific unit of weight
(g = grammes / kg = kilogrammes / lb: oz = pound ounces). Please ensure that the scales are set to
the appropriate units of weight for you.
Tare weight function:
Touching the TARE/OFF field will set the scales to "0 g". Switch on the scales, place e.g. a bowl on
the weighing platform, and touch the TARE/OFF field to set the scales back to "0 g". You can repeat
this procedure as often as you like until the total capacity of the scales (3 kg) has been reached.
After you remove the item(s) to be weighed, the total weight is displayed as a minus value.
Note: The icon TARE will appear in the left of the display if the tare weight is higher than 50 g or if
the total tare weight surpasses 50 g.
2
Automatic/manual switch-off of the scales:
The backlighting of the scales switches off automatically if no weight change is registered for about
10 seconds. The scales switch off automatically if no weight change is registered for about 2 minutes.
To conserve battery life, you can switch off the scales manually by touching the TARE/OFF field for
approximately 2 seconds after use.
3. Time
Commissioning the clock:
Open the small round black battery compartment cover in the middle of the reverse of the scales with
a coin (e.g. a 1 cent coin), and remove the battery protection strip. To replace the battery, open the
battery compartment cover, remove the spent battery, insert a new battery (1 x LR44) and close the
battery compartment cover. Please ensure correct polarity of the battery (+/-).
Setting the time:
A small grooved back knob is located on the right above the battery compartment cover. Set the
correct time by twisting the knob to the left or right.
