Meaning of the indicators
When the system unit is switched on, the drive carries out a self-test. The indicators are illuminated
or flash during this test.
During operation, the indicators have the following meaning:
Drive state
Cartridge/tape not loaded
Cartridge/tape not loaded, cleaning
required
Tape loaded, no tape movement
Tape loaded, tape movement
Tape loaded, no tape movement, cleaning
required
Tape loaded, tape movement, cleaning
required
Tape loading or unloading, or cartridge
unloading
Tape loading or unloading, or cartridge
unloading, cleaning required
Cleaning
Unrecoverable drive failure, cartridge
failure or MICROCODE DOWNLOAD
failure
The "Fault" indicator flashing is indicating a hardware failure. The drive is not ready for
i
use. In this instance, please contact our customer service center.
The "Fault" indicator steady ON indicates that a head cleaning operation is recommended
( see section "Cleaning"). The drive is still fully operational. The "Fault" indicator is reset
by operating the cleaning cartridge in the drive.
