Why Should I
Use The Atlas Sound
TSD-ZDC
Atlas Sound Time Saving Devices are designed to solve common problems that can arise during installation
or expansion of commercial audio systems. Each TSD can provide a solution in a variety of scenarios. This
document will illustrate a few examples of how best to use the TSD-ZDC.
Installation Scenario 1
What is the best way to integrate a stereo, two
channel source with a mono, single channel
background music and paging system? Many
commercial A/V integrators have faced this
dilemma and have chosen one of two options.
-Use the left or the right channel only
-Short the left and right channels together (not
recommended for a variety of reasons) Most
equipment will not function properly with the
two outputs shorted together.
The Atlas TSD-ZDC now allows for a third
more reliable and better performing option.
The TSD-ZDZ allows the integrator to passively
"sum" the two channels, without shorting the
source outputs together. By feeding the left/
right channels into the TSD-ZDC and using the
other terminals as the summed output, the
source's outputs "see" a resistive load and are
electrically isolated by the TSD-ZCD.
Installation Scenario 2
Another situation in which the TSD-ZCD can
simplify an installation is in a scenario in
which up to three microphones need to be
connected in a system with a mixer amplifier
that only has one microphone input available.
The 3 microphone sources can be connected
to the 150 individual input terminals (A-C)
on the TSD-ZCD and the last set of terminals
(D) can be uses as an output. This provides
the electrical isolation needed so the inputs
are not overloaded.
Also remember not to mix and match
unbalanced with balanced wiring
when using the TSD-ZDC, keep the
configuration the same for optimal
functionality and performance.
