POWER CONNECTION
Be sure the HA-5000 power supply power button switch is in the "off" position ("out"- not
depressed) before connecting the IEC equipped power cord to the rear of the power supply and
the umbilical cable to the head amplifier unit. The HA-5000 power supply uses a standard three
prong male 15 amp IEC connection for AC input. You need to use a power cord with a female
three slot 15 amp IEC connector at one end (see Figure 1).
The DC umbilical cable to the pre-preamplifier unit is fixed to the rear of the power supply and
connects to the rear of the head amplifier unit. The umbilical cable must be inserted snugly into
the connector on the rear of the head amplifier unit and then secured, using the screw collar
around the connector (see Figure 3).
The HA-5000 you have purchased is set internally for AC 110/120 volt – 60 HZ, or 220/230 volt –
50 Hz operation. There is no way to change this to another AC setting without return of the units
to the factory for re-wiring, at the owner's cost, including transport both directions.

INPUTS
In the centre of the four RCA input connections on the rear of the HA-5000's chassis is a screw
type connector. This connector is the ground connection for ground wires from cartridges
and/or turntables. (see Figure 3).
There are two (2) pairs of single-ended (RCA) inputs (see Figure 1). The right and left channel
input connections for the two pairs are the bottom four RCA connections, surrounding the
ground connection. The left channel input connections are on the right of the unit, facing the
HA-5000's rear panel (on the left if you are facing the front of the unit). The right channel input
connections are on the left of the unit, facing the HA-5000's rear panel (on the right if you are
facing the front of the unit).

OUTPUTS
The HA-5000 is equipped with one pair of single-ended (RCA) outputs on the rear of the head
amplifier unit (see Figure 3). The right and left channel output connections are the top pair of
RCA connections. The left channel output connection is on the right of the unit, facing the HA-
5000's rear panel (on the left if you are facing the front of the unit). The right channel output
connection is on the left of the unit, facing the HA-5000's rear panel (on the right if you are
facing the front of the unit).
INITIAL POWER-ON
Once you have your HA-5000 in place and all connections have been made to your preamplifier
or integrated amplifier's moving magnet inputs, the umbilical cord is securely connected to the
head amplifier unit, and the power cord is installed and plugged into an AC receptacle, you are
ready to turn on the power for your HA-5000. Before you power up the HA-5000, though, be
sure you have:

selected the input connections that you want to use, MC1 or MC2, using the button on the
front of the head amplifier unit
