Congratulations on your purchase of the
A 2083 Zone Paging System. This 8 zone
paging system has been designed to incor-
porate more zones as your needs grow.

Installation
These instructions will step you through
setting up and installing the A 2083.
Setting Up the System
Set DIP switches to enable/disable 4 spe-
cific system functions.
Please read instructions first,you may not
need to alter any DIP switch settings
DIP switches are located inside the Master
Switching Unit (Switch Box) to the left of
the power switch ( see figure 1). The lid
must be removed to set the DIP switches
Switch 1 (Priority Select): When enabled,
paging station 1, plugged into the
Microphone Station 1 socket (rear of
Master Switching Unit) will override all

other paging stations. This is factory set to
ON. ie: in this position Input 1 has priority.
Switch 2 (Pre- chime): Provides a two tone
announcement chime to all zones being
paged. Factory set to OFF.
Switch 3 (All call): Enables the ALL CALL
button on the paging station to page all
zones when selected.
When OFF the all call function is disabled.
Factory set to ON.
Switch 4: This switch is not required.
Factory set to OFF.
Paging stations
These are connected from the switch box
RJ45 socket on the paging station to the
RJ45 socket on the Master Switching Unit.
Microphone Station 1 socket must be used
for Microphone 1 priority. See Priority
Select section above.
Use Cat 5 cable for wiring the paging sta-
tions, Altronics recommends part number
W 2760. Maximum distance from paging
station to Master Switching Unit is 300
metres. For wall plates Altronics recom-
mends the use of part number D 5110
(single) or D 5112 (dual)
2 paging consoles can be daisy chained on
the one input if desired. See figure 2 for
details.

WARNING
Be very careful to make sure no strands
of wire from cabling are shorting
between terminals on the rear connec-
tors, short circuits can cause the master
switching unit to stop working.
Incorrect Dip Switch Settings
For correct operation ensure internal
DIP switches are set correctly prior to
power up.
