HL250-A Series
Assembly
1. First, take the styrofoam container out of the cardboard carton and lay it on its side, paying attention to which
side is labeled up. Remove the tape and open the container carefully so as to avoid dropping and damaging the
optical items. Check carefully to ensure that all parts and accessories are intact.
2. Check the packing list to ensure that you're received all items. Please note that this can vary depending on
which model you've purchased, and is generally listed on www.amscope.com at the items' details page for your
specific model.
3. Remove the illuminator from the box. Assembly for these units is quite simple--begin by attaching the illumi-
nator attachment to the 2-step connector. This will be either your single gooseneck, dual gooseneck, or ring light
attachment.
4. Attach the power cable from the unit to the wall.
5. Before powering on, ensure that you are using a 110v power source into a 110v unit. If using 220v, be sure to
use a step down transformer for the safety of your unit and bulb.
6. Attach the ring light to the included adapter for your stereo microscope. This adapter screws onto the objective
lens or onto the end of any Barlow lenses currently in use (for -AR models only).
Changing the Bulb
1. Ensure that the unit has been turned off and allowed to cool off before attempting to change the bulb to avoid
burns or damage.
2. Remove the top panel to reveal the bulb. There is a screw on the top of the box locking the panel into place
that must be removed.
3. Once open, remove the white plastic socket (with two white wires protruding from it) from the bulb. It simply
slides off.
4. There are two metal pins that secure the bulb into place. They do NOT need to be removed. To pull the bulb
out, simply tilt the bulb back by pushing down near where the prongs meet the socket that was removed. Do not
push on the prongs, but the bulb itself. The bulb will then push the pins to the side, allowing you to pull the bulb
out vertically.
5. Reverse the above steps to reinstall the bulb and door.
