RING DELAY
General
The ring delay referred to in Step 2 is user-set by a dual in-line package (DIP) switch located inside the
telephone interface. A standard telephone may be plugged into the RJ11C jack labeled "TELEPHONE
SUBSET" on the front panel of the telephone interface. When the central cabinet phone number or PBX
extension is dialed, this telephone will ring for the programmed number of times before the birdie tone is
heard on the Centra-Page system. This ring delay allows time for the call to be answered before it
disturbs everyone at the facility. If this telephone is used to answer a call after the birdie tone has
started but before anyone on the Centra-Page system has answered the call, the tone will stop
broadcasting over the Centra-Page system and the telephone circuit will remain isolated from the Centra-
Page system.
If a call is answered at a telephone subset, the call can still be transferred to the Centra-Page system by
depressing the "ACCESS" button on the Telephone Interface front panel. The call will be transferred to
party line 1 even if one or more stations are off-hook. The "ACCESS" button overrides the need to
have all stations on-hook before a call can be transferred to the party line. To disconnect a call from an
outside phone line to the Centra-Page system, depress the "DISCONNECT" button on the Telephone
Interface. The call will be disconnected immediately.
