3. Installation
Please read carefully before attempting to fit the seat. If you are not the end user, please make sure the aftercare
instructions are made available for the end user to read.
A. Basic principle of hinge mechanism (see diagram A). The hinge body assembly is inserted into the hinge
mounting holes in the rear of the seat ring/lid and then bolted to the toilet pan.
B. Adjusting the seat hinges. In order to fit the seat correctly, it is essential to adjust the seat hinges. Adjustment
can be achieved in 2 main ways.
1. Rotation of the hinge discs (see diagram B). By rotating the disc on the underside of the hinge body assembly, it
is possible to adjust the position of the fixing bolts. In addition to this rotating action, by sliding the fixing bolt
up/down the slot in the disc, it is possible to adjust the fixing bolt position further. The combined rotating/sliding
action allows a wide range of fixing positions. This is necessary in order to match the distance between the 2
holes in the toilet pan and to adjust the forward/backward position of the seal.
NOTE:- It is necessary to make sure that the hinge body assemblies are fully inserted into the hinge mounting
holes in the seat (as in diagram A). Failure to do so will result in excessive side to side movement of the seat.
Some side to side movement is perfectly normal.
2. Swapping over the hinge body assemblies (see diagram C1 and C2). It can be seen that the hinge body
assemblies are handed and that the angled bar is positioned off centre in relation to the assembly. By swapping
the hinge bodies over, it is possible to move forward (as in diagram C1) or backwards (as in diagram C2) on the
toilet pan.
C. Bolting the seat to the pan (see diagram A). It is essential that:-
1. All washers are fitting (as in diagram A). NOTE:- That the main seat washer must be fitted the correct way up.
2. The locking nuts are tightened properly. This may require the use of pliers. Failure to adequately tighten the
locking nuts may result in the seat moving around the pan - care must be taken however not over
tighten the nuts as this could either strip the thread in the nut or damage the toilet pan. After a few days
use, check that the nuts are still tight – this is necessary as the washers will slowly compress in the first few days
of use. If the seat lid or ring will not stay in the raised position then move it further on the pan.
