Select the soundtrack language. Some discs are designed to start in a certain language despite any changes you make here.
Input a code number with the numbered buttons when you select "5 Other ****'(■* page 43).

Set a ratings level for playing DVDs. The DVDs must have rating levels recorded on them for this feature to be effective. Discs with this
feature will be marked.
Level 8: All DVDs can be played.
Level 7 to level 1: Prohibits play of DVDs with ratings recorded on them.
Level 0: Prohibits play of all DVDs.
The password screen is shown if you choose levels 7 to 0.
Select the language used for menus and messages the unit displays on the television (including these menus).
Choose whether to show the on-screen messages that appear on the television when you perform operations.
Select the color and position of on-screen messages and icons.
Select the aspect ratio to suit your television.
4:3: Regular television
16:9: Widescreen television

The optimum when listening to 5.1 channel sound is for all the speakers, except for the subwoofer, to be the same distance from the listening
position.
You can adjust the delay time for the center and surround speakers to make up for differences in distances between the speakers

These adjustments are effective when playing DVDs encoded with Dolby Digital.
Select a picture type for when the picture is paused.
Field: Less blurred field stills are shown. Select if jittering occurs when "1 Automatic' is selected.
Frame: Sharper frame stills are shown. Select if small text or fine patterns cannot be seen clearly when "1 Automatic' is selected.
Select whether to have sound on or off during the first level of forward search.
Select how software made for a widescreen television is displayed on a regular television (~ page 42).
Select whether to have dynamic range compression on or off during play of Dolby Digital software. Dynamic range is the difference between
the loudest sound and the softest sound. By compressing this range, you can listen at low volume but still enjoy clear dialog.
Select whether the picture type (l/P/B) is shown when a DVD is paused.
