Caution: To prevent damage to your decoder and locomotive, track voltage used during

operation must not exceed the operating parameters of the locomotive and its lighting

system in which the decoder is installed (typically this is 12V DC). For most N scale lay-

outs, Digitrax recommends using 14 volts DCC or less for operation to avoid damage to

the locomotive shell, lamps and decoder.

DCC Medium Socket: The diagram below shows the DCC medium plug that

is widely used with HO locomotives and some N scale locomotives. Your

DN163PS is compatible with these locomotives. The color code refers to the

wire colors on a DCC wire harness. To install a decoder in a loco with a DCC

medium socket, remove the dummy plug that comes with the locomotive and

insert a decoder with a DCC medium plug in the socket.
