Chapter 1 Introduction
1.1
General
A typical ASTRO Digital XTL 5000 Dual-Radio W3 Handheld Control Head (HHCH) System consists
of two XTL 5000 mobile radios (in different frequency bands), a single W3 HHCH, an interconnect
cable with a quick-disconnect adaptor for the HHCH, and two speakers.
When equipped, typical features such as Scan, Secure, DTMF Hot Keypad, Volume Control, Radio
Selection, Push-To-Talk, and Monitor will be accessible through the HHCH.

Dual-Radio Software
The dual-radio option is supported by mobile host firmware release 6.5 or greater and ASTRO 25
Mobile CPS release R05.00.00 or greater.
1.1.2
Accessory Support
The dual-radio system supports the use of a Motorola Siren/PA. Refer to Section
PA," on page 2-6
The dual-radio system supports the use of an Emergency Footswitch. Refer to Section
"Emergency Operation," on page 2-4

The dual-radio system does NOT support the use of a VRS.

Ordering Information
The dual-radio option is not available for field upgrades. FLASHport
option. As a result, all mobile radios in the dual-radio system must be ordered from the factory with
the dual-radio option(s).
