direction and the number of jumping tracks (512 -
32,767) are being designated by the command.
Receiving the feed kick command, the servo DSP
(IC401:TC9461F) works to open the tracking servo circuit
to apply the kick signal to the rear stage of the carriage
EQ to drive the carriage motor to execute jumping.
The signals to be applied at this time are being so
profiled to carry a time constant in their leading edges
and, also, it is so designed that the voltage is lowered
when the number of remaining tracks decreases to
bring down the moving speed of the carriage.

Thus, the speed is being lowered just before a jump is
finished to facilitate taking-in action by the servo when
the jump has been finished.
Meanwhile, when a track jumping has been finished, in
order to stabilize the taking-in action by the servo, the
tracking servo gain will be raised for about 11 to 12mS
after a jump has been finished, or with some jumps,
hysteresis movements for about 2 to 3mS are being
employed.
