COMPATIBLE CONNECTIONS
Compatibility of Components: Unless otherwise noted,
Ergodyne safety equipment is designed for use with
Ergodyne approved components and subsystems only.
Substitutions or replacements made with non-approved
components or subsystems may jeopardize compatibility
of equipment and may affect safety and reliability of the
complete system, potentially resulting in severe injury or
death.
Compatibility of Connectors: Connectors are considered
compatible with connecting elements when they have
been designed to work together such that that their
shapes and sizes never cause any gate mechanisms to
inadvertently open regardless of how the connectors
become oriented while in use. Anchor point and harness
D-ring must be compatible with travel restraint Snap
Hooks.
Never use equipment that is not compatible. Non-
compatible connectors may unintentionally disengage
and prevent travel restraint resulting in serious injury or
death in the event of a fall. Self-locking snap hooks are
required by ANSI Z359.3 and OSHA and all connectors
must be compatible in size, shape and strength.
Making Connections: Snap hooks are designed to be
used only as specified in these instructions, ensuring the
connector gate is closed and locked to a D-ring or anchor
point as shown in (fig. 2) below. Only use connectors that
are suitable to each application. Ensure all connections
are compatible in size, shape and strength. Do not use
incompatible equipment.
FIG. 2
While in use, the snap hook must be free to align with the
applied load as intended regardless of the size or shape of
the mating connector. Inability of the snap hook to align
with the applied load may result in gate loading or a
roll-out disconnection.
