Indications

Reel does not latch.

Reel does not retract.

Reel retracts partially.

Reel does not unlatch after

maximum length of hose is

removed.

Material leakage at the

swivel assembly.

Material leakage from sheave

assembly (2) and/or delivery

hose.

The possible causes for broken components are listed in italics

Possible problems

Extension spring (24) broken or not attached to pawl and

shaft assembly (25).

1. Power spring broken.

2. Worn or damaged body and stud assembly (37 or 40)

1. Improper power spring tension

2. Worn or damaged body and stud assembly (37 or 40).

3. Hose length greater than recommendation.

1. Power spring wound solid.

2. Hose removed from the reel too quickly (over-rotation

of reel).

1. Worn or damaged seal (38 or 42).

2. Worn or damaged swivel assembly.

1. Delivery hose connection not sufficiently tight

2. Union (6) not sufficiently tight into bushing (7) [or shaft (8)]

and/or thread sealant missing or inadequate.

3. Bushing (7) not sufficiently tight into shaft (8) and/or

thread sealant missing or inadequate.

Solution

Replace or secure extension spring (24).

1. Replace power spring assembly (12).

2. Replace swivel assembly (36 or 39).

1. Set tension properly.

2. Replace swivel assembly (36 or 39).

3. Refer to table 1.

1. Decrease power spring tension.

2. Pull the hose slowly when close to being fully

extended.

1. Use repair kit 393530-24 or 393695.

2. Repair or replace swivel.

1. Tighten connection.

2. Apply sealant to union (6) and tighten into bushing (7)

[or shaft (8)].

3. Apply sealant to bushing (7) and tighten into shaft (8).
