PRECAUTIONARY
MEASURES
CAUTION:
READ CAREFULLY
BEFORE USING !
UFO.OD includes
magnetic products.
Do not place
ferromagnetic objects in
reach of the base and
carrier. Ferromagnetic
elements include iron,
nickel, cobalt, and any of
their alloys. Non-
ferromagnetic metals such
as aluminum, silver, gold, or
copper can safely be used
with the UFO.OD device.
The device should
not be used if
pregnant or fitted
with a cardia pacemaker or
automatic internal
defibrillators or insulin
pumps. Keep out of reach of
children. Keep out of reach
of magnetically stored data
such as computers, disks,
credit cards, magnetic keys,
etc.
A minimum distance of
10 cm (4 inches) is
recommended.
THE BASE
• The power adaptor
delivered with the unit
should preferably be
plugged against a
vertical wall, allowing
sufficient air flow. Do
not damage the power
cable.
• An optical sensor
(16mm diameter) is
located at the center of
the base. The optical
path to the sensor
must always be clear
of obstacle. The rest of
the base can be
covered by any non-
ferromagnetic material
(e.g a tablecloth).
• Keep the central
optical sensor clean.
Avoid pointing bright
lights towards the
central optical sensor.
THE CARRIER
• A reflective spot (5mm
diameter) is located at
the center of the
carrier's lower side.
The optical path to this
sensor must always be
clear of obstacle. The
rest of the carrier can
be covered or
embedded in any non-
ferromagnetic material.
Keep the reflective
spot clean.
• Do not place the
carrier on a metallic
surface (e.g metallic
table), as it would stick
to it.
• Do not place loads
made of ferromagnetic
material or their alloys.
• The levitation height
depends on the load.
Table 1 gives indicative
values of levitation
height vs load weight.
• Stability depends on:
‣ the weight of the
load: the heavier
the less stable.
The maximum
recommended
load is 850g.
‣ the shape of the
load: the more

compact the
more stable.
‣ the center of
gravity of the
load: the lower
the more stable.
‣ the centering of
the load: the
center of gravity
must be perfectly
centered to avoid
irregular and
unstable rotation
of the carrier.
TEMPERATURES
The temperatures given in
Table 2 are indicative and
apply only for the naked
base placed on an horizontal
surface. Characteristics may
differ when the base is
embedded. To prevent
overheating, the base is
thermally protected and will
shutdown automatically
when reaching 50℃.
PLACING THE
CARRIER IN
EQUILIBRIUM
Placing the carrier in
equilibrium might be
challenging at first, but will
become extremely easy after
a some practice.
1. Place the base on a
clean and dry horizontal
non-ferromagnetic
surface, keeping the
carrier out of reach of the
base.
2. Sit comfortably in front of
the base. Hold the carrier
firmly between your
thumb and index at
~25cm (~1 foot) above
the center of the base.
3. Lower down the carrier
fairly rapidly keeping it
level and centered, until
you feel a light upward
resistance. This is the
floating height.

4. The next step requires
some practice. Move the
carrier around until you
notice that the base take
the control of the carrier
and release it smoothly.

MAINTENANCE

• Never open the device or
its power supply.
• Unplug the power supply
after each use.
• The magnetic products
present in the device are
sensitive to heat. Never
expose any part to heat
greater than 40℃ (104℉).
• Wash the carrier and base
while unplugged with a
wet tissue and a mild
cleaning agent. Dry
immediately with a dry
tissue. Do not use hot
water or hot air dryer. Do
not submerge the base in
any liquids and do not
expose to large liquid spill
or liquid amounts.
• If you do not plan to use
the device over a long
period of time, remove the
power cable, place the
device, the carrier, and the
