SnapDragon – Owner's Manua
l
Issue 1,8
Once inside the car, the free-wheel facility can be used to position the powerbase more
conveniently if necessary (see above). However, once in position, make sure that the drive
is connected, so that the electronic brake is on, by clicking the mushroom knobs back into
place. For added security, you may also wish to operate the manual brakes (see Fig:9).
The other parts of the SnapDragon, i.e. the seat and elevator, can then be lifted into the
luggage compartment and packed carefully with padding to avoid any damage to paintwork
or fibreglass.
Loading the SnapDragon without Ramps
The SnapDragon will disassemble further in order to transport the SnapDragon with the
batteries stored separately. This may be necessary for air travel, when batteries need to be
transferred to a separate battery box, or possibly for coaches with no wheelchair access,
etc.
For this purpose, the SnapDragon will need to be disassembled as above, with the elevator
removed. Then remove the battery compartment "bootlid"cover by pulling downwards with
your thumb on the black rubber catch in the centre at the very back of the cover. You will
find that the hook underneath unclips. Then hold the cover with two hands under the back
edge and pull it backwards and up.
Pull both the grey battery connectors apart and lift each battery separately out of the
battery compartment. The powerbase can now be lifted by two adults, being careful not to
trap fingers in any moving parts, particularly the back transom bar on which the castors are
mounted. Remember that the back castors are deliberately heavy for stability reasons, so
the back is heavier than the front. The "bootlid" cover can be re-attached for transport if
required, once the powerbase has been stowed safely.
