Thank you for purchasing this high-quality product made by ADE Germany. You have
acquired a set of scales that meet highest technical standards and are of proven quality.
Please read these operating instructions carefully before using the first time and keep
them in a safe place where you can find them whenever you need the information
contained in the instructions.

Putting into Service

Activate the batteries / Replace batteries:
Open the lid of the battery compartment on the bottom of the
scales and remove the battery safety strip. Please observe the
correct polarity of the battery (+/-).
To replace the battery open the battery compartment. Move the battery at the recess
downwards and the battery will be easy to take out. Make sure that you do not bend the
contact. Insert the new battery (1 x CR2032) and close the battery compartment.
Safety guideline s:
Ensure that no objects fall onto the scales; otherwise, the scales
may be damaged.
Only use a damp cloth to clean the scales. Never use solvents
or abrasive cleaners. Do not put the scales under water. You
must clean all the plastic parts of the scales immediately after
they come into contact with grease, spices, vinegar or any other
spiced or coloured foods. Avoid any contact with citric acid.
To remove the bowl (e.g. for cleaning) push the pushbutton below the handle and
remove the bowl.

2. Operation

Switch ing on the scales:
To switch-on the scales push the ON/OFF/TARA-button. At first, the LCD indicate for a
few seconds the characters "8888" and after the scales have stabilised, they display
"0 g". The scales are now ready to weigh.
Units of weight / Liquid mode:
A longer push of the Hold/Unit-button in weighing mode allows you to change the unit of
weight (g = gram / lb:oz = pound ounce / ml = millilitre / fl.oz = fluid ounce). If you have
chosen the mode ml (millilitres), you can push the liquid-button (drop symbol) to weigh
water, milk, or oil. Please ensure that the scales are set to the appropriate units of weight
for you.

Weighing:
Place the scales on a firm, level base and switch-on the scales. After the scales have
stabilised, they display "0 g". Put the item to be weighed into the bowl. After stabilization
of the weight indication, the weight of the placed item is readable in the display.
Hold-func tion:
By pushing the Hold/Unit-button, while the weight indication is stable you can hold the
reading. When Hold-function is active, the symbol "H" appears in the display. To
deactivate the Hold-function push the Hold/Unit-button again.
Tare-fun ction:
Pushing the ON/OFF/TARA-button allows you to set the scales to "0 g". Put the weighing
charge into the bowl. Upon the weight is indicated and stable push the ON/OFF/TARA-
button and in this way set the scales back to "0 g". You can repeat this procedure as
often as you like until the total capacity of the scales (5 kg) has been reached. After you
remove the item(s) to be weighed, the total weight is displayed as a minus value. Please
take care not to move the weighing platform during the tare procedure.
Automatic switch-off the sca le:
If the indicated weight does not change within approx. 90 seconds, the scales switches-
off automatically. You can switch-off the scales manually after you have finished using
them by pushing the ON/OFF/TARA-button for approximately two seconds.

3. Error Messages

"LO"
=
Indication that the battery is flat - Please replace the battery
with the intended type (one type CR2032).
"Err"
=
Overload display - The 5 kg maximum capacity of the scales
has been exceeded. Immediately remove the load from the
scales; otherwise, the load cell could be damaged.

5. Guarantee
ADE guarantees to rectify any defects due to material or manufacturing defects by means
of repair or replacement free of charge for a period of three years. When making a
guarantee claim, please return the scales together with the sales slip to your retailer and
stating the reasons for the claim.
