Opener Center Hydraulic (Non-Active Hydraulic
System) Instructions:
1) Lower the opener frames and lock the tractor
hydraulic lever forward temporarily while adjusting
opener down-pressure.
2) Release the lock disk (1). Set the down-pressure
with the adjustment knob (2) while watching the pres-
sure gauge until the gauge shows the desired pres-
sure. Turn clockwise to increase pressure and
counterclockwise to decrease pressure.
3) When the pressure is set, lock the knob with the
locking disk.
4) After opener down-pressure is set, return the trac-
tor hydraulic lever to neutral. This locks in the
selected pressure and opener frames remain fixed in
this position.
Note: Open center tractors and tractors with fixed-dis-
placement pumps are not designed to provide a con-
tinuous supply of pressurized oil to remote valve.
Locking the hydraulic lever forward on these tractors
can cause overheating of hydraulic oil and tractor
damage.
During Field Operation:
1) Each time the openers are lowered, hold the tractor
remote hydraulic lever forward for a few seconds to
recharge the circuit, then return it to neutral position.
The tractor and drill should be on level ground when
returning lever to neutral.
2) When approaching rough terrain where you need
active hydraulics to maintain even opener penetra-
tion, move the tractor hydraulic lever forward momen-
tarily. When you return to level ground move the lever
to neutral.
Note: Do not activate the tractor hydraulic
lever for more than 20 seconds at any given time.
Opener Adjustments:
Openers provide the best results when the opener
body is parallel with the ground.
1) If the openers are too high in the front, increase
hydraulic pressure, and/or lengthen the opener
springs. Check the opener frame pivot in use at high
pressures.
2) If the openers are too low in the front or are bulldoz-
ing, as shown to the right, decrease the hydraulic
pressure and/or shorten the opener springs.
