1 TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

1.1 PRODUCT NAME AND FEATURES

This operation and maintenance manual applies to:

The flangeless return butterfly valve of type 4499.

These valves are flangeless protection fittings and they work automatically:

the pressure of a medium flowing through in one direction opens the valve (flow following the arrow on

the body)

the flow of the medium from the direction opposite the direction of the arrow on the body closes the

valve.

1.2 INTENDED USE

Butterfly valves with cat. no. 4499 are intended for piping systems and industrial installations. They can be

operated both in underground and overground installations as mounted in vertical or horizontal pipelines.

Return butterfly valves can be manufactured in different material versions and used in water networks,

technological installations, petrochemical industry, municipal management (sewage treatment plants) and water

treatment stations.

Return butterfly valves are used for securing installations against the return flow of a stream (opposite the

proper flow direction) marked with an arrow on the body depending on the type of materials for sealing elements

used.

1.3 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION

Scope of manufactured sizes DN 250 – 800.

Nominal pressure – up to 1.6 MPa.

Maximum flow rates

liquid media 4 m/s

gaseous media (air) 30 m/s.

Depending on whether the butterfly valve is to be installed in a horizontal or vertical pipeline and what the flow

direction is, we distinguish its versions acc. to Fig. 1
