BB-500GE-S is specially designed to use with the external strobe light.
#7 and #8 pins on Hirose 12P connector are used for an optical output 1 in the standard
version but in the BB-500GE-S, they are used for the open collector output to interface with
the external strobe light.

*1: Iris Video output function can be set by the internal DIP
The following drawing shows the typical connection with the strobe light.
Except the mentioned subject, the BB-500GE-S is the same as the BB-500GE.
