1 Setting the Drive
The drive number (SCSI ID) of this product is automatically set by the system.
No settings for terminator are required for this product.

2 Notes on Handling

CAUTION
!
The hard disk is a precision device. Strictly observe the following when handling the prod-
uct; otherwise, the product and/or the data in the disk may be destroyed.
Use the wrist-strap included with the mainframe of teamserver series when handling the
product.
Do not touch the connector section and the component installation surface of the PC
board when handling the product.
Be sure not to drop or mishandle the product in any way until the bottom of the product
completely touches the desk surface when the product is to be placed on the desk.
Before removing this product, turn off the power and wait until the disk completely stops
rotating (about 30 seconds).
To remove or install the product without turning off the power, carry out the procedures
described in the user's guide included with the mainframe of the server.
Do not use or store the product in the following locations:
– Near a magnet or strong magnetic field
– Near a heater or location where the product would be exposed to direct sun light
– Any location subject to extreme temperature or humidity changes
– Any wet or dusty location
– Any location subject to vibration or shock
Do not disassemble the product.
3 Before Using the Hard Disk Unit
Before using this product, perform the required settings by referencing the included re-
lated hardware and software manuals.
To remove or install the product, carry out the procedures described in the user's guide
included with the mainframe of the server.
Carry out the same procedures as described in the guide, though the defferent product
names may be described in it because of the time when purchasing the mainframe.
This product temporarily make a noise right after power-on, but there is no problem with
its quality.
Do not enable the write cache in the hard disk drives even if some operating systems
provide functions to enable them.
Data in the write cache may be lost when an unexpected power failure happens.
Even if the type name (GP5-HDXXX)is the same, the externals might be different.
