Dell PowerVault TL4000 Notas de publicación
When a user performs an upgrade of a unit with the initial RTS Firmware (0.80 FW), the library
will show now a service tag field in the RMU (Remote Management Interface). The value in the
field will not correspond to your unit actual service tag. The value in the service tag field will read
"ABC1234". The service tag information is added during the manufacturing process. Your service
tag is not changed; you can find the service tag in the front of the unit.
PowerVault TL4000 has a reserved slot "DCS" (designated cleaning slot)
Initial 0.80 Firmware for the TL4000 has a reserved cleaning slot. Firmware 3.90 added a feature
that allows the user to reconfigure the cleaning slot and the I/O slots into storage. A firmware
update will leave the library slot configuration settings intact. If the user needs to take advantage
of the new added functionality, the user must change the configuration manually. Refer to
product user guide located at
www.dell.com
for feature configuration
PowerVault TL2000/TL4000 now restores the network to DHCP on when a factory default
restore is executed
Initial 0.80 Firmware release did not restore the network configurations settings to their factory
defaults DHCP on when a factory defaults restore was performed in the unit. Issue is corrected in
the 3.90 Firmware
PowerVault TL2000/TL4000 now provides feedback to the user after the tasks are executed
Initial 0.80 Firmware release did not provide the user with feedback when the tasks were
executed. i.e. FW upgrade, configuration changes, etc. Firmware 3.90 provides the user feedback
upon completing the task requested by the user
PowerVault TL2000/TL4000 did not validate the e-mail address during the e-mail
notification set up
Initial 0.80 Firmware did not validate the user entered a valid e-mail format during he e-mail
notification setup. Firmware 3.90 now validates the e-mail address for correct format and sends a
test message to the provided e-mail as part of the e-mail notification set up process

Known Issues

Tl2000/TL4000 LT03 library drives with initial RTS Firmware version (6AB1) cannot have
their firmware updated via the unit RMU interface.
In order to upgrade a LT03 drive with starting FW 6AB1, use the ITDT tool provide with the FW
upgrade package
TL2000 Documentation is not accurate when it describes the behavior of the Diagnostics
TL2000/4000 documentation claims that the media will be return to the starting inventory location
after the diagnostics test "slot to slot" is executed. This statement is incorrect. Running the slot to
slot diagnostics test will result on lost media inventory information. User must re-inventory the
library after a slot to slot diagnostics test is executed
TL2000/TL4000 Reports Wrong unit configuration during boot
The TL4000/TL2000 reports unit configuration status during its boot process. The configuration
reported in some instances does not match the actual library configuration i.e. "number of drives",
"state of the I/O slot". The issue is due to the library reporting the status prior to fully configure the
devices. Once the library initialization is complete the library configuration will be correct. Please
ignore the booting process messages until the unit has completed its initializing cycle
TL2000/TL4000 Drive power configuration changes (make to more than a single drive) do
not take effect when half height drives are installed in the unit
