Adjust the microscope as described below to improve the observed image.

Rotate the knob to lower the stage. (Details: Page 17)

Open the clamping lever of the slide holder and place the specimen
slide. (Details: Page 19)

Rotate the revolving nosepiece to engage the 10X objective in the
light path.

Rotate the coarse and fine adjustment knobs to bring the specimen
into focus. (Details: Page 17)

Rotate the stage knob to adjust the observation position.

Now you can observe the magnified image of the specimen. To
improve the observation further, read section 4-2, "Microscope
Adjustments" below.

Adjusting the Interpupillary Distance

While looking through the eyepieces, adjust for binocular vision until
the left and right fields of view coincide completely.
} Note your interpupillary distance so that it can be quickly duplicated.
Adjusting the Left and Right Focusing

(diopter adjustment)

Looking through the eyepiece without the diopter adjustment ring,
rotate the coarse and fine adjustment knobs to bring the specimen
into focus.

Looking through the eyepiece with the diopter adjustment ring, turn
only the diopter adjustment ring to focus on the specimen.
} If the diopter adjustment rings are provided on both the left and
right sides, see "Adjusting the Diopter" on page 22.
The diopter adjustment rings may be provided on either the eye-
pieces or the observation tube.
