Select Run.
The version upgrade starts.
The version upgrade is performed in two
steps called phase 1 and phase 2.
When the version upgrade starts, the
REC lamp flashes and a "Version Upgrade
Elapsed Time XX:YY:ZZ Executing... **%"
message appears on the viewfinder and
sub display (XX:YY:ZZ: Progress time in
each phase, **%: Progress status in each
phase).
The approximate time required for each
phase is shown below (the time will vary
depending on the combination of the old
and new upgrade versions).
Phase
Estimated time required
Phase 1
Approx. 10 minutes
Phase 2
Approx. 35 minutes
[Note]
When the version upgrade transitions from phase
1 to phase 2, the message disappears and the
unit restarts. The version upgrade process then
continues. Do not turn the unit off.
When the version upgrade is completed successfully,
the REC lamp turns on and a "Version Upgrade OK
Turn Power Off" message appears.
If the version upgrade stops, the version upgrade
data may be corrupted and a "Version Upgrade
NG: Cannot Read the File Turn Power Off" message
appears. Restart the MPC-3628/MPC-3626, save the
correct version upgrade data on the SD card, and
then perform the upgrade procedure again from
step 1.
If the version upgrade fails, a "Version Upgrade
Error!" message appears. Check the version upgrade
procedure, and then perform the upgrade procedure
again from step 1.
If the version upgrade problem persists and the
upgrade is not successful, there may be a problem
with the MPC-3628/MPC-3626. Contact a Sony
service representative.
5
Restart the MPC-3628/MPC-3626.
6
Check that the version has been updated
(see "Checking the Existing Version").
If the firmware has not been updated
to the latest version, check the version
upgrade procedure, and then perform the
upgrade procedure again from step 1.
Version Upgrade using
Recovery Mode (Forced
Version Upgrade)
If the user version upgrade fails, a problem
may have occurred in internal memory. The
problem in internal memory may also have
occurred due to another error. When a problem
in internal memory occurs, an error may be
issued or the MPC-3628/MPC-3626 may not
turn on. In such cases, you can forcibly write
the software to the MPC-3628/MPC-3626 using
recovery mode. The MPC-3628/MPC-3626 will
operate normally once the problem is resolved.
[Notes]
Executing the procedure in this section will restore the
MPC-3628/MPC-3626 software to factory defaults, and
user settings will be lost. User settings are maintained
in a normal version upgrade, so you should upgrade
from the setup menu.
Always connect an AC adaptor with power supply
rating of 120 W or higher when upgrading. If a battery
pack is attached at the same time, the upgrade
will continue if the AC adaptor is subsequently
disconnected.
If the problem persists after recovery using this
function, contact a Sony service representative.
Required item
Prepare an SD card or SDHC card on which the
version upgrade data is saved.
Procedure
1
Insert the SD card into the MPC-3628/
MPC-3626.
[Note]
Set the power switch of the MPC-3628/MPC-3626 to
the OFF position, and then insert the SD card.
2
Press and hold the MENU button together
with the CLIPS and ASSIGN 2 buttons on
the Assistant side, and set the power
switch to the ON position.
The REC lamp of the MPC-3628/MPC-3626
starts flashing and the software recovery
begins.
When finished, the REC lamp stops
flashing and the MPC-3628/MPC-3626
automatically restarts.
[Notes]
When the REC lamp starts flashing, release the
buttons.
The version upgrade process using recovery
mode takes about 55 minutes.
The version upgrade progress may not be
displayed depending on the state of the unit.
3
Turn the MPC-3628/MPC-3626 off.
4
Remove the SD card from the MPC-3628/
MPC-3626.
5

check that the unit starts normally.
6

(see "Checking the Existing Version").
