1221 RADIO TRANSMITTER OPTION MANUAL
1.3.3 BOX DELAY
Press FUNC to move to the Box Delay (DLY =) field. The rotating message remains the
same. Use the arrow keys to change the box delay time.
When using the @X command to prompt an automatic retransmission, this variable
determines how long to delay the radio box before transmission. Select XX (no delay), or
select 01 to 60 seconds. For example, a 10-second delay for box 1234-56 entered at this
screen, together with an @X123456 command entered under user text, will delay the box
transmission 10 seconds. (User text message @ command must be entered without dashes.)
Two soft keys will pop up when the box is queued for transmission. One soft key will allow
immediate transmission (TX Radio Box Now), while another soft key will allow aborting of
the pending box transmission (Abort Radio Box). The following message will appear on the
display, just above the soft keys:
Where ?? is a running countdown of the delay time.
Once the box number is transferred to the transmitter, it cannot be aborted. If more than one
box is queued up, the second box will have to wait until the first box is transmitted with a
variable two to 14-second delay between rounds and an FCC requirement of 60 seconds
between boxes. While the SYSTEM 3500 is delaying the box, the key click sound will
activate once per second. The pending box will transfer to the standby queue with a fixed
15-second delay prior to transmission, unless the box was manually entered. If the box was
manually entered, no delay will apply.
For details on entering user text messages and @ commands, refer to SYSTEM 3500
Installation and Operation Manual: Section 4, User Text and Section 22, @ Commands.
1.3.4 99ZN FORMAT
Press FUNC to move to 99ZN Format field. The rotating message will remain the same.
Use the arrow keys to select 'Y' (transmit in the 99Zn format) or 'N' (no 99Zn). Verify with
the Fire Department that they can indeed receive the 99Z format. The 99ZN format will
transmit Alarm, Trouble and Restore conditions.
IMPORTANT!: Any box number and code in the 99 Zone format can be transmitted, except
codes 96, 97, 98 and 99. These codes are reserved for specific use.
