Transmitting
Indicates that the radio is transmitting.
Channel
Indicates the Channel number the radio
is currently in.
Note:
Display icon differs
according to the current
channel the radio is in.
Scan
Indicates Scan feature in the Menu
setting.
Squelch Level
Indicates squelch level settings.
Repeater Access
Toggle to turn the Repeater mode on/
off.
VOX
Initiates a hands-free voice activated
call on a programmed channel.
Voice Announcement
If enabled, the radio audibly indicates
the radio operations.

GETTING STARTED
For the following explanations, refer to the "Parts of the
Radio" section of the user guide.
Turning Radio ON/OFF
To turn ON the radio, press the Power button. The display
shows the Channel for five seconds.
To turn the radio OFF, long press the Power button.
Adjusting Volume
To increase the volume, press the Volume Control
Button (+) button.
To increase the volume continuously, long press the
Volume Control Button (+) button.
To decrease the volume, press the Volume Control
Button (–) button.
To decrease the volume continuously, long press the
Volume Control Button (–) button.
Note:
Do not hold the radio too close to the ear
when it is at a high volume setting or when
adjusting the volume setting.
Menu Options
To access the radio menu, short press the MENU button.
Use the Volume Control Button (+/–) to scroll through
the menu items.
The LED display shows the current configurable feature
icon and setting. The features which are configurable on
the radio are as follow:

Channel

Scan
•
Squelch Level
•
Repeater Access
•
VOX
•
Voice Announcement
Selecting A Channel

Press the MENU/Lock button.

Press Volume Control Button (+/–) to the required
Channel.
The display shows the Channel name for five
seconds.

Press PTT to confirm the selected Channel.
Talking And Monitoring
It is important to monitor for traffic before transmitting to
avoid 'talking over' someone who is already transmitting.

Press and hold the MON button for 2 to 3 seconds to
access channel traffic.
The display shows the channel number and if no
activity is present, you will hear 'static'.

To exit the monitor mode, release the MON button.
Once channel traffic has cleared, proceed with your
call by pressing the PTT button.
Receiving A Call

Select a channel by pressing the MENU/Lock button
then press Volume Control Button (+/–) until you
reach the desired channel.
The display shows the Channel name for five
seconds.

Make sure the PTT button is released and listen for
voice activity.

To respond, hold the radio vertically 1 to 2 inches (2.5
to 5 cm) from mouth. Press the PTT button to talk and
release it to listen.
