4.2 DECK BLOCK
4.2.1 Adjustment of Mechanical Section
@ Test tape : STD—301 (3kHz 30min)
@ Setting of high speed mode : Short-circuit TP409 and TP410 of the POWER assembly. To release the mode, disconnect the
short circuit.

4.2.2 Adjustment of Electric Section
MM Check and conduct the following before

2. Clean and demagnetize the head using a head eraser.

3. When measured, the level should be OdBV = 1 Vrms.
4. Use side A of the specified tape for adjustment.

5. Prepare the following measuring devices :

Attenuator, Oscilloscope

channels,
unless
specified
otherwise.
7. Set the DOLBY NR switches to OFF (RX—Z36 only)
and MIC MIX to MIN.
8. Warm
up
the
unit
for
several
minutes
before
adjustment. Especially before adjusting the frequency
characteristics of recording and playback, warm up for 3
to 5 minutes in REC/PLAY mode.
9. Make sure to follow the proper order of the adjustment
procedure.
Any
change in the order may
cause
an
improper result.
NOTE :
As
the
reference
recording
level
is 250nwb/m
for
STD—331E, the recording level will be higher by 4 dB for
STD-—331B
(160nwb/m).
When
adjusting,
pay carefull
attention to the type of tape used.
