Pressure locked is a condition that may exist in any double sealing gate valve when the body cavity pressure greatly exceeds line pressure. It occurs only in the

full open or full closed position and indicates that the sealing surfaces are in good condition.

Probable Cause

Improperly sized motor operator.
Improperly wired electric operator.
The bearings need lubrication.
The bearing or gear unit is broken
or damaged.
Valve is not fully closed.
Seat or seat seals are damaged.

Remedy

Replace with properly sized motor operator.
Verify wiring following instructions and schemat-
ics provided by the operator
manufacturer.
Lubricate bearings per the Routine Maintenance
Section.
Replace broken or damaged parts.
Fully close the valve. Turn the handwheel CLOCK-
WISE. DO BACK OFF
THE HANDWHEEL.
Lubricate seats per Routine Maintenance Section.
Replace parts.
