REBUILDING
1. Hold the PIPE END in a vise and use a wrench to loosen the ADAPTER END by griping on the
cast lugs.
2. Make sure you have a firm grip on the ADAPTER END and unthread from the PIPE END.
3. Discard the old BODY O-RING.
4. Remove the POPPET SUB ASS'Y and SPRING from the PIPE END. Be careful not to drop the
POPPET SUB ASS'Y as damage will occur to the o-ring retention lip
5. Hold the POPPET SUB ASS'Y by the stem portion using a collet or soft jaw vise. Be careful that
the stem does not slip during o-ring removal
6. Carefully pry the POPPET O-RING from the POPPET SUB ASS'Y groove. Be careful not to
scratch the metal groove portion of the poppet groove, as leakage will occur. This procedure
will cause damage to the old POPPET O-RING and it must never be reused.
7. Lubricate the new POPPET O-RING using grease compatible with the material you will be
handling and the seals you are installing. If you are installing a PTFE Encapsulated o-ring, it
should be heated in hot water to ease installation
8. Press a section of the new POPPET O-RING into the poppet groove and begin working the o-
ring around the poppet by stretching it and pressing it into the groove.
9. Make sure the o-ring does not twist and that it is fully seated into the groove in the poppet. Run
your finger around the POPPET O-RING to make sure there are no bumps felt. Wipe excess
grease from the poppet o-ring as the excess grease may cause an erroneous pressure test.
10. Replace the spring and POPPET SUB ASS'Y into the PIPE END as shown in the drawing.
11. Lubricate the BODY O-RING using grease compatible with the material you will be handling
and the seals you are installing. Insert the BODY O-RING into the ADAPTER END
12. Place the ADAPTER END over the POPPET SUB ASS'Y and compress the SPRING by
pushing the ADAPTER END toward the PIPE END until the threads can be engaged by hand.
13. Use a wrench to securely tighten the ADAPTER END to the PIPE END.
