Operation Manual
How To Operate the Screwdriver
Important Ergonomic Information: Proper
positioning of the hand on the tool produces
less fatigue and strain on the wrist, hand and
fingers. Always hold the tool with the starting
lever facing away from you. Wrap your hand
around the tool so that your forefinger, or "trigger
finger" is on the STARTING LEVER. Never use your
thumb to operate the trigger. Hold the tool only
firmly enough to prevent the body from spinning
in your hand. Do not over-squeeze! You will get
the proper feel after several cycles. Your thumb
will now be in the proper position to operate
the FORWARD/ OFF/ REVERSE SWITCH. NOTE"
The center position is OFF This will be the most
comfortable and ergonomic grip for a power tool.
To Lock the Torque:
A locking torque adjusting nut assembly is available
for the AC series tools. Part #65550 is installed in
place of the stock torque adjusting nut and prevents
tampering by the operator. The #65550 is supplied
with a special adjusting ring needed to adjust
the torque. Along with protecting your tool from
damage due to being dropped, the use of a tool
balancer or tool positioner will make the tool
essentially "weightless" in the operators hand. Also
adding to the operators comfort and reducing fatigue.
The Locking Torque nut assembly consists of an outer sleeve which is separate from
the actual adjusting nut. This sleeve turns freely without the locking tool inserted
preventing the operator from changing the torque. To install the torque locking nut
assembly first remove the "E" ring preventing the standard torque adjusting nut from
being unscrewed all the way. Remove the standard torque nut and replace with the

locking nut assembly. Replace the "E"ring. The only way the torque nut can now be
adjusted is with the ring tool.
Standard Equipment
Each AC Series tool is supplied with the following standard equipment:
•
1, Suspension spring #65553
•
1, Pair spare carbon brushes #732102
•
1, #1 x 65 mm double ended Phillips bit #65551
•
1, #2 x 65 mm double ended Phillips bit #65552
Spare brush caps are not included but the part number for a replacement brush cap is
#732104.
CARBON BRUSH REPLACEMENT
The carbon brushes in the motor should be inspected at 6 month intervals
and replaced when worn. New carbon brushes measure approximately
1/4" long and should be replaced when worn down to 1/8" long. The
BRUSH CAPS can be removed using a flat blade screwdriver (see drawing
at left). When replacing the motor brushes both brushes should be
replaced at the same time. With both BRUSH CAPS and carbon brushes removed, blow
compressed air through one of the openings to remove carbon dust.
CAUTION: Before replacing the brushes a second time we strongly recommend the
tool be disassembled by qualified personnel and cleaned to prevent the build up of
carbon dust inside the tool to prevent potential electric shock hazard.
