Fast UPS-Mode of Transfer
The fast, break-free transfer mode is programmed with the slide switch ' Transfer Delay' located on the
side of the COMPACT. With this switch in the OFF position the Inverter will switch ON at once if the
voltage at the AC INPUT drops below the set value mentioned in the previous section. This switch -over
takes 20mSecs which ensures a break-free change-over for almost all appliances. In most installations
the COMPACT should be operated in this mode.
Delayed Mode of Transfer
In some installations it may be advantageous to have a delay between the voltage at the AC INPUT
falling below the set 'Transfer Voltage Threshold' and the Inverter switching ON, for example if the
COMPACT is being operated from a small generator and a vacuum cleaner is switched ON. This will
result in the generator voltage being pulled low for a short period whilst the vacuum cleaner powers up.
It is therefore not necessary to switch the Inverter On during this period. To allow a 5 second delay
between the AC INPUT voltage dropping below the threshold voltage and the Inverter switching ON, the
slide switch 'Transfer Delay' should be set to the ON position.
If the AC INPUT voltage falls below 100Vac this delay is overridden and the Inverter switches ON
instantaneously as it interprets this as a supply failure.
The Solar Charger Regulator (optional)
The COMPACT also has an option of an integrated Solar charge regulator for charging the batteries. The
Solar Charge regulator works automatically and is always in operation. As soon as energy is delivered
from the solar modules the 'SOLAR CHARGE' LED 3* is illuminated and energy is delivered into the
batteries in the same charging regime as the battery charger. The Solar Regulator will operate in parallel
with the battery charger reducing the amount of energy taken from the AC source.
Ensure the correct voltage of solar modules is used. Never connect any other systems such as a wind
generator to this input.
The Multifunctional Auxiliary Contact
As mentioned in 'Stage 4' of the installation, the COMPACT is fitted with three terminals which are
potential free (volt free) change-over relay switch contacts.
The maximum permitted current and voltage for these contacts is 16A/250Vac. The schematic of these
switch contacts is clearly marked above each of the terminals. This schematic illustrates the relay in the
non-active state. LED 5* on the front of the unit will illuminate if this relay is Active.
The relay can be programmed to switch due to various conditions. (Programming mentioned later). It is
factory set to operate during the following conditions:-
The relay can also be manually switched ON/OFF using button 21* on the front of the unit.
