B. Restore procedure
The restore procedure is exactly the same as the backup procedure. When the backup script is initialized, it
will check for the presence of the "VenusSetup.dat" file on your harddisk.
If the file does not exist, the backup script will make a backup of your current configuration.
If the file exists, the backup script will restore your settings into the memory of the Media Giant.
Note: The steps described below are based on using the remote control. However, for most part you can
also use the touch buttons on the front panel of the Media Giant. Please note that the "OK" button
on the front panel has the exact same function as the "ENTER" button on the remote control.
1.
Copy the "shooting.sh" file in the current folder to the root of a USB memory stick.
2.
Insert the USB memory stick in the USB port on the front of the Media Giant.
3.
While in the Main Menu of the Media Giant, press the "COPY" button on the remote control.
4.
In the File Copy menu, select "USB" as Source and "Harddisk" as Destination. Press the "ENTER"
button to proceed to the next screen.
5.
Open the contents of the USB memory stick by pressing the "ENTER" button and highlight the file
"shooting.sh"
6.
Press the "GOTO" button and the "REPEAT" button. The Media Giant will show an icon indicating an
invalid action, but after some seconds, the Media Giant will automatically reboot.
When the reboot is finished, the Media Giant has restored the configuration and channels which are loaded
from the "VenusSetup.dat" file, located in the root of the FAT32 partition of your Media Giant hard disk.
Note: As long as the "VenusSetup.dat" file exists on the FAT32 partition of your Media Giant, the backup
script will always restore the settings when the backup script is started, even if the current settings
in your Media Giant are newer than the settings in the "VenusSetup.dat" file.
If you want to make a new backup of your settings and channels, you need to delete the
"VenusSetup.dat" file first before you follow the backup procedure steps.
