Installation-System Piping
Thenearboilerpiping, t hat is the pipingaround the boiler,mustbe considered
as partof the boilerfor proper waterlevelcontrol,andto producedrysteam.
Correctnearboilerpipingis crucial t o the properoperation ofthe boilerand
theheatingsystem. F ollow theserecommendations carefully.
1.Placeboilerin theselectedlocation, a s nearchimneyaspossible.
2. Install t he pop safetyvalve,usingthe furnished3/a" 90" ell,intothe 3/4"
pipenippleon thebackof theboiler.Makea discharge pipe,using3/4"pipe
(not furnished)to carry the water or steamto a nearbydrain. Do not
connectthe dischargepipe directlyto a drain but leave an air gap. No
shutoffof any description shallbeplacedbetween the popsafetyvalveand
the boiler,or ondischargepipes
between suchsafetyvalvesandthe atmosphere. Installation of thepop
safetyvalveshallconformto therequirements o f theANSI/ASME Boiler
and Pressure Vessel Code, Section IV The manufacturer i s not

3. This boiler is equippedwith two 21/2" supplyconnections o n top and
two 1V2"returnconnections, one eachon frontand backsidesof the

4. Recommended near boilerpipingfor gravityreturnsys-tems is shown
in Figure8. This configuration usesone supplyand onereturntapping.
Pipingoff bothboilertap-pings is recommended o n units5 sectionand
larger.
