Focusing
MS-binoculars have single-eyepiece focusing, i.e. you can adjust the focus individually
for each eye. For this purpose, turn the focusing ring of one eyepiece until the image is
sharp. Repeat the procedure for the second eyepiece. Differences in the visual
performance of the eyes are automatically compensated for. The diopter compensation
allows for individual focusing at invinity.
Foldable Eyecups
If you are observing with glasses, you should fold the eyecup so that you can oversee the
whole field of view. For observation without glasses, the eyecups remain unfolded.
Lens and Eyepiece Caps
Both lenses and both eyepieces should always be protected against dust and scratches with
the included protective caps when you are not observing.
Attaching the Shoulder Strap
Guide one end of the shoulder strap from the top through the eyelet on the back of the
binoculars. The rubber loop and the sliding loop must be threaded. At first push the end
through the rubber loop and then through the sliding loop. Make sure that the strap end
extends far enough beyond the slide loop so that it can not slip out. Tighten the strap.
Proceed with the other end as well. You can use the sliding loops to adjust the length of
the strap.
Attaching the Tripod Adapter
Unscrew the cap on the objective side of the bridge, which protects the underlying 1/4"
thread. Then drive in the knurled screw of the tripod adapter. The base of the tripod
adapter posses a 1/4"×20 photo thread, which matches to customary photo tripods.
Carrying Bag
All MS-binoculars come with a carrying bag made of durable Cordura. The binoculars
can be both transported conveniently in this bag and stored safely when not in use.
Care and Maintenance
Clean the glass surfaces only if they are visibly soiled. First remove loose dust with an
optical brush (possibly with bellows) to prevent scratches. After that you can clean a dirty lens with a
damp eyeglass cleaning cloth, microfiber cloth or cleaning stick. It is best to wipe the lens radially from
the inside out.
Customer Safety Advisory Notice
You must not look directly into the sun with binoculars. Irreperable eye damage to
blindness can result.
Only if the binoculars are equipped with lens filters certified for solar observation, the
sun can be safely observed. We are happy to help you with this matter.
