These poles, which are
fixed to the aluminium
extrusion at one end,
should be swung out,
and the lower portion of
the leg, which has a twist
lock feature, should be
adjusted to the desired
length. [Fig. 10]

The poles must then be secured by way of guy
ropes and pegs. [Fig. 11]

Repeat the process on the other side of
the awning.

The awning is now free standing beside the
vehicle. For further stability, deploy the two
horizontal torsion poles contained in the
aluminium extrusion which forms the backbone
of the awning. [Fig. 12]
8.
Swing these poles outward (they are secured at
one end). Disengage the twist lock mechanism,
and extend the poles to allow the tip of the pole
to be inserted into a specially drilled hole in the
aluminium extrusion (around which the side
awning was wrapped) [Fig. 13]
