SAFETY
Before every ride, check your bike for proper setup, including, but
not limited to: functioning front and rear brakes, firm attachment of
wheels, and correct attachment of handlebar and stem. Please install
the reflectors included with your bike. Install the white (front) reflector
facing the front of your bike and the red (rear) facing the back of your
bike. Reflectors are not a substitute for front and rear lights when
riding in low-light conditions - you should use lights if you are riding
outside of daytime hours.
Obey all local traffic laws and watch carefully for changing conditions
every time you ride. You should wear an approved bicycle helmet
every time you ride a bicycle, regardless of the legal requirement to
do so.
FIXED GEAR RIDING
6KU Urban Track and Fixie models feature a "flip-flop" rear hub. This
hub allows for singlespeed (the rider can coast) and fixed gear (the
rider cannot coast, whenever the wheel is turning, the pedals are also
turning). Beginning riders should start with the singlespeed setup.
If you decide to ride fixed gear, we recommend that you always have
brakes installed on your bike. You should also use foot retention, such
as clipless pedals and matching shoes, or toe clips and straps, when
riding fixed gear.
