INSTALLATION POSITIONING ADVICE
When mounting an alarm on the ceiling, locate it a minimum of 30 cm from the side wall (see Diagram 5).
• Put smoke alarms at both ends of a bedroom hallway or large room if larger than 10m long.
• Install smoke alarms on slopped, peaked or cathedral ceilings between 500 and 1500mm from the highest point of the ceiling.
Smoke alarms in rooms with ceiling slopes greater than 1m in 8 m horizontally should be located on
the high side of the room (See Diagram 6)

1.
To pair with additional Emerald Planet RF
Smoke Alarms
a.
Before installing the smoke alarms in their locations, it is
necessary to "pair" them to each other. Ensure all alarms
are ready to pair and powered correctly with batteries.
Press and hold the test button on one alarm until the
red LED light illuminates and stays lit. (Please note: The
alarm will sound during this time), release the button.
The alarm is now in "Wireless Pairing Mode".
b.
While the first alarm is in Wireless Pairing Mode", Press the
test button of the alarm that you wish to pair with it for 1
second then release. The red LEDs will flash rapidly for 2
seconds on both alarms indicating successful pairing.
If there is no alarm response to this command within 30
seconds, pairing was unsuccessful and the unit will exit
"Wireless Pairing Mode" automatically. Return to point a and
try again.
2.
To Cancel Pairing
a.
Press and hold the test button on the alarm until the red
LED flashes for about 1 second (approx. 16 seconds) and
release the button.
b.
After releasing the button, press the button when the red
LED lights up, release the button when the red LED is off,
if you hear the sound of two beeps in quick succession
repeating, that indicates that Pairing is cancelled.
