Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the Avantes AvaLight-DH-CAL.
The AvaLight-DH-CAL is a calibrated light source for the UV/VIS/NIR spectral range (205 - 1099 nm).
This NIST traceable, calibrated light source is developed for use with all AvaSpec spectrometers to
be used in measuring absolute spectral intensity (in combination with a fiber-optic cable and an
irradiance measurement head).
The Avalight-DH-CAL is based on the standard AvaLight-DH-S light source. The standard SMA output
has been replaced by a diffuser of which the output is measured and defined in the calibration lamp
files (xxx.lmp) that come with it.
As a service the AvaLight-DH-CAL comes with a cosine corrector with SMA adapter. You can use this
or your own to calibrate your irradiance system. Note: This cosine corrector should not remain in
the lamp after calibration!
There are two calibration files, both valid for calibration with the cosine corrector. One calibration
file can be used for irradiance calibration over the full range (200 – 1099 nm). In that case, both the
deuterium and halogen light need to be switched on during calibration. The other calibration file
can be used for irradiance calibration over the VIS/NIR range (350 – 1095 nm). In that case, only the
halogen light needs to be switched. This provides a much smoother and stable output at the higher
wavelengths.
The calibration files can be imported to our software, AvaSoft 8, developed to make your
spectrometer system a spectroradiometer.
The AvaLight-DH-CAL-ISPxx is a special version of these calibrated light sources, meant to facilitate
the coupling of the AvaSphere-xx-IRRAD integrating spheres to the light source (xx = 30, 50 or 80).
