ChronTrol is a precision electronic timer designed for installation indoors in a place protected from excess moisture and
temperature conditions. It is made to National Electrical Code requirements and is designed for a standard three-wire system.
CAUTION: The ChronTrol Wall Mount timer should be wired and installed by a qualified electrician.
1.
After removing the timer from its shipping container, examine it carefully to be sure that it has not been damaged during
shipment. Remove all shipping material.
2.
Carefully remove the ChronTrol chassis from its 8" x 10" x 4" gray enclosure.
3.
Securely mount the gray enclosure in place.
4.
Unwind the two power supply wires. Turn the main power switch of the home or business OFF. Connect the ground
wire from ChronTrol's chassis to a solid earth ground. Now connect the AC power supply wires. Turn the main power
switch ON. The timer is now "ON".
5.
Now activate ChronTrol's memory protection system by installing the battery in the battery compartment located on
ChronTrol's front panel. Use a single 9-volt alkaline battery. For best results, use reliable, fully charged batteries.
6.
Now turn the main power switch of the home or business OFF and connect the equipment to be controlled to the
relays.
7.
If timer is equipped with a connector for inputs, attach a ChronTrol I-Box or other suitable accessory. Pin assignments
are:
8.
After all equipment has been connected and the chassis mounted in its gray enclosure, turn the main power switch ON. The
timer is now ready to be programmed. See the XT User's Guide for programming instructions.
WALL MOUNT DRY CONTACT WIRING
The single pole-double throw relay is standard on the "wall mount" model and can be used to operate two devices, the one
being "ON" when the other is "OFF". One wire of the equipment is connected to the normally open (NO) contact on
ChronTrol's relay. Another wire connects the power source to the common (C) contact on ChronTrol's relay. The third
wire is connected directly from the equipment to the power source. Wire the optional second appliance between the power
source and the normally closed (NC) relay contact as shown below.
