5.3 Calibration of output voltage
In order to evaluate the experiment results quan-
titatively, it is necessary to know the precise rela-
tionship between the output voltage and the an-
gle of deflection.
Determine the angle of deflection geometri-
cally with the help of a ruler (see Fig. 1) and
match this with the corresponding output volt-
age.
5.4 Coupled pendulums
To set up a coupled pendulum arrangement (see
Fig. 2), it is necessary to use a second rod pen-
dulum, a coupling spring and a second voltage
sensor with adapter.
The following equipment is needed:
2 Rod pendulums
1 Coil spring, 3.3 N/m
2 Bench clamps
2 Stand rods, 1000 mm
1 Stand rod, 470 mm
4 Universal clamps
2 Voltage Sensors 10 V
2 Adapters, BNC Plug/4 mm Jacks
1 Data logger
1 Software
More information about digital measurement can
be found on the product's webpage in the 3B
Webshop.
Set up both pendulums as described in step
5.1.
You can increase the stability of the set-up by
adding a short stand rod between the two
long ones.

Insert the ends of the coil spring
in the pendulum rods to couple the two pen-
dulums
together.
6. Disposal
The packaging should be disposed of at local
recycling points.
Should you need to dis-
pose of the angle sen-
sor, never throw it away
in
normal
domestic
waste. Local regula-
tions for the disposal of
electrical
equipment
will apply.
