Fibre Address

In fabric environments, the port addresses are assigned automatically. In arbitrated

loop environments, set the port addresses by selecting a unique arbitrated loop

physical address (AL-PA) or loop ID for each port. For speciﬁc values, refer to the HP

StorageWorks LUN Conﬁguration and Security Manager XP User Guide applicable

to your array.

When conﬁguring the disk array, use LUN Manager in Remote Web Console XP,

Command View XP, or Command View XP Advanced Edition to specify whether the hosts

and the disk array are connected by a fabric switch. Also, you must specify FC-AL or

point-to-point in the "Mode" ﬁeld of the Change Port Mode pane. The default is FC-AL.

If you are using a fabric switch, consult the switch's documentation to determine whether

FC-AL or point-to-point should be used. Some fabric switches require that you specify

point-to-point to get the system running.
