(a) Coarse adjust-
ment is too tight.
Tension adjustment ring is tighten-
ed too much.
Loosen tension adjustment ring
proper1 y.
(b) Stage drops or
specimen goes
out of focus.
User is trying to raise stage passing
over upper focusing limit imposed
by engaged pre-focusing lever.
Tension adjustment
ring is too
loose.
Unlock pre-focusing lever.
Tighten ring properly.
(c) Stage cannot be
raised to upper
limit.
Pre-focusing lever is engaged in
lower than focusing position.
Unlock pre-focusing lever
Raise condenser mount.
!
Condenser mount is lowered too

lens hits against
specimen.
Specimen is mounted on stage up-

Observation Tube
(a) Incomplete
binocular vision.

Diopter adjustment is incomplete.
User is unaccustomed with a bino-

Correct interpupillary distance.
Complete diopter adjustment.
Right and left eyepieces are not
matched.
Prior t o looking at the image of
specimen, try t o look entire field
